When Bethany was only 13, she was attacked by a tiger shark. She was just resting on her surfboard on Halloween morining, and the shark swept up and bit off her left arm. After Her Best friend, Alana, Alana's dad, and Alana's Brother got her to the shore, they got help. Bethany was rushed to the hospital to work on her arm.
When Bethany got home from the hospital, she couldn't go in the water. Since she had pretty much been raised in the ocean, it was hard for her. She had to learn how to do a lot of things over. Such as doing her shoe laces, dressing, etc.
When Bethany finally was able to swim again, she tried surfing again. It was like she had to start over! After about 3 tries, she got it. She stood up on her board and was surfing again! It wasn't easy though. To begin competing again, Bethany had to work out and find new ways to handle her board.
After a while, bethany was a pro again. She still is, and surfs as a professional surfer, just like she always dreamed.
